CookingFix

A rescue-first cooking site for the moment a dish is already too salty, too dry, broken, soggy or otherwise headed in the wrong direction.

WHERE IT CAME FROM

A recipe site, a hack, and a name too good to waste.

CookingFix started life as a recipe site for my wife. Then it got hacked, and I left the domain sitting idle for years.

Eventually I decided the name was too good to leave sitting there. And the obvious thing for a name like that was a cooking fix-it site: not one more place to find a recipe, but the place to go when dinner is already going wrong.

THE IDEA

Cooking help is most valuable after something goes wrong.

Most recipe content assumes you’re starting at the beginning. CookingFix is built for a different moment: the food is already on the stove and something’s wrong.

It puts diagnosis and quick fixes first, in the words a stressed cook would actually use.
