TideMail terms of service
What you are agreeing to
By installing or using TideMail you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. TideMail is free, open-source software released under the MIT License; that license governs your rights to the source code, and these terms cover your use of the application.
What TideMail is, and is not
TideMail is a program that runs on your computer and connects directly to the mail accounts you add. It is not an email service. We do not host your mailbox, run a mail server for you, or keep a copy of your mail.
Your accounts and your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accounts you connect, the passwords, app passwords and sign-ins you use, and everything you send or delete through TideMail.
- You must follow the terms of your mail provider, including Google, Microsoft and any other provider you connect, and the law that applies to you.
- Do not use TideMail to send spam, harass others, or break anyone's security.
- Keep your computer and your keychain secure. TideMail stores secrets as described in the privacy policy, but it cannot protect a computer that is already compromised.
Google and other sign-ins
If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, you authorize TideMail to access your mailbox as described in the privacy policy, and you can withdraw that access at any time in your Google or Microsoft account settings. TideMail's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Plugins and AI features
Plugins are optional programs, often written by other people, that run on your computer with the permissions you grant. Install only plugins you trust. The optional AI features send the text you choose to the AI provider you configure, under that provider's terms, using your own key.
No warranty
TideMail is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, as the MIT License states. Email is important; keep your own backups and check that mail you send and delete behaves as you expect.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for lost, deleted, delayed or undelivered mail, or for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of TideMail. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Ending use
You can stop at any time by uninstalling TideMail and, if you wish, deleting its configuration and data folders and removing its access in your Google or Microsoft account settings.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new effective date, and continued use after that means you accept it. Questions: support@mylivelab.com or github.com/allisonhere/tidemail/issues.
